Birth of a Faery

A moon beam shone through a blue crystal, and then was gone. But below on a leaf was a stirring of life, a new Faery, fresh and beautiful. She had long wavy brown hair that went to her beautifully sculpted knees. Her skin was as white as snow, and her features delicate. She had bright aquamarine eyes and red lips that were like rubies in the sunlight. Her name is Bella. A slow, soft voice said, “Bella, you are to go on a quest and save the crystal that was taken seconds after you were born. A wish will bring you to your destiny.” And then, for Bella, the world went black.

The wish

BRRRR-ING! BRRRR-ING! BRRRR-ING! Went the emergency lockdown signal. That meant everyone goes to their bed and hides. It sucks. I’m Charlotte, but I don’t know my last name. I am one of the twenty girls at the Destiny Orphanage. Destiny as in D-orky E-xceptionally boring S-unless T-iny I-mperfect N-auseating Y- did I get put here of all places. But I got stuck here, and there is nothing I can do about it. Oh well, at least I have Romia. She’s been my best friend forever. As the bell rang, we looked at each other and I knew we were thinking the same thing, ghost stories. The orphanage gets broken into a lot, so Romia and I get to tell ghost stories A LOT. Because of this, we are fed in our tiny room from our Dumbwaiter. We have the time of our lives. After telling chilling story after creepy story, Romia went to sleep, and I had time to make a wish, “I wish for something different.” Then my world went black and I saw two things, the ghost bride and a Faery.

The Meeting

 The next morning I awoke in a strange place. I was in a room of what looked to be limestone and had faeries carved in the limestone. To my surprise, two nymphs rushed in to dress me in a flowing cream dress and cream slippers. In a daze, I was rushed inside the opening of a Douglas fir for breakfast of lavender French bread and scones. I thought I was in a dream. Then a faery, unconscious and bound with chains, was brought into the tree. Her head drooped and her feet were in a point. “Who is she?” I thought. Then I, for some reason, knew that her name was Bella and she would be a big importance to my life. The nymphs that brought her in forced a potion down her throat and she started spluttering and coughing. She was sat next to me and opened her eyes. She, in a sweet soft voice, said to me, “Where are we?” “I don’t know,” I replied truthfully. I had been wondering that myself. Then a beautiful woman came into the room. She was wearing a dress that looked like a wedding gown, and had a crown on that was made of crystals. She was introduced by the nymphs as the Queen of Faeries, and she had a quest for us.

The Quest

            “You two were born from crystals, Bella was born from the Blue Crystal, and Charlotte, and you were born from the Fire Crystal. These crystals have been stolen, and without them you will both cease to exist. Your quest is to find the crystals and return them to me. Bella, the Blue Crystal is in the hands of the Blue Witches. Charlotte, the Fire Crystal is now with the Fire Mermaids. Now you must return to your rooms and prepare yourselves.” Shaking, Bella and I went back to our rooms, where we found a suit fit for each quest. I had fire-proof armor that looked pretty good on me if I do say so myself. Bella had blue armor that was water-proof. After we bid our farewells, we stepped through the portal, and started our quests.

Blue Lake (Bella)

            My heart and wings were beating as I reached the Blue Lake. Then I heard it. It was a soft, slow voice and soon I felt very sleepy as I walked. I felt that I was hypnotized. My wings slowed, and my will stopped. I was walking into the lake, deeper and deeper I went into a trance, and deeper and deeper I went into the lake. I snapped out of hypnosis about three feet under water. Being only 3 inches tall, that’s a lot. I felt silly falling under a trance that quick, but the hypnotist was very good. I quickly swam toward the surface, gasping for air. I started toward the Blue Forest, unfortunately goblins were waiting for me and spun their hypnotic spell on me once again. I unwillingly walked into a cage.

Fire Ring (Charlotte)

            As I walked toward the ring of fire, I heard a voice of a siren that hypnotized me. I saw a vision then of Bella, and she was in a cage and that shocked me out of the hypnosis.  I ran full speed through the fire and dove into the lake of fire. I saw a mermaid coming toward me and my eyesight faded to black. I heard someone scream Bella’s name and then I passed out. I had a vision that Bella, Romia, and I were getting adopted. So my best friend and I would be adopted sisters. That meant millions of ghost stories a year. I heard giggling and this time I fainted for real.

Blue Woods (Bella)

           Amidst my hypnosis, I saw Charlotte, and she was screaming, “DON’T FIGHT THE HYPNOSIS. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF!” then she was gone in a silver mist. I gave in, and I did find myself. All I wanted to do was be with Charlotte. I was yearning for her. And I thought, “I have to get that crystal for the Queen, for Charlotte, for myself.” Then it was a power strong enough to break the hypnosis, and the cage. The cage split in two and I flew into the forest. Then in a blue ball of light, I was captured by the witches, finally. I used my new power to break free and strip the crystal necklace from the pretty neck of the blue witch. She didn’t put up much of a fight. In fact she screamed, “THANK YOU! I have been under the curse of that necklace for hours!” She flew off happily chattering to herself. I stepped into the light that the crystal shone, and was imported in between realms.

Fire Mermaids (Charlotte)

            I awoke in a dark room, with two mermaids looming over me. One whispered, “The transformation is complete, and she is awake!” I looked down, and I saw a tail, instead of legs. I, of course, screamed. The mermaids had turned me into, well, a mermaid! The mermaids welcomed me, and gave me a welcoming gift. The Crystal Necklace! The magic turned me back to human and I stepped quickly through the portal to the Faery Realm.

Middle Worlds (Bella)

            “Where am I?” I thought as I got transported to an upside-down world. I felt the Crystal Necklace with my fingers. It sent a magical charge up my fingers to my heart, and again I felt the magic I felt in the cages. I was instantly at the Faery Realm. “Strange…” I thought to myself as I started walking to my room in the old Oak.

Returns and Prizes

            I collapsed on my bed. Let me tell you, it’s tiring being turned into a mermaid and hypnotized and then transported. Nymphs again came in and dressed me in a prettier dress than a month ago. I was escorted to the dinning hall and was reunited with Bella and the Queen. After a meal of fresh berries, the Queen sent us home. She said that Bella was to always stay with me, or we would be punished by being placed in Goblin Prison. They were each other’s protection. A flash and a tinkle of bells, we were back in the orphanage and it looked like only an hour had passed instead of a month. After I gave Bella a place to sleep, I fell asleep quickly. In the morning, the lockdown had finished, but Romia, Bella, and I stayed in the room. The second Romia saw Bella, her eyes were like moons. “When did she get here?!?!?” asked Romia as she jumped up and down. But before I could reply, Miss Bruntwart came in and told us to pack, we were adopted! We threw the few belongings we had in a bag and raced downstairs to meet our new parents. I had a great surprise when we saw two nymphs waiting for us. We were adopted by the Queen herself!
